Following an accelerated one-year implementation program, Haliplex has today announced the award of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Certification for its Melbourne Headquarters.

The certification, which recognises the exceptional quality of service and environmental consciousness of the technology company, was conducted through a fully integrated system audit. In a bid to manage activities holistically, rather than the traditional approach of disparate management processes and standards peripheral to core operations, Haliplex has established a forward-looking Integrated Management System (IMS) which consolidates standards requirements and places organizational strategy at the apex of operations.

"The achievement of this fully integrated certification has served well to demonstrate Haliplex's foundational commitments to quality, innovation and a strong client and industry focus," said CEO, David Drew. "I am very proud of all of those individuals who worked so hard to achieve this milestone, which speaks well of Haliplex's progress as an international technology provider."

The Haliplex Integrated Management System, which also incorporates SA 8000 Social Accountability standards and OECD Corporate Governance principles, includes 12 policies aimed at superior corporate citizenship, and over 25 procedures capturing research and development, management, commercialization, customer support and continual improvement processes.

International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

Haliplex is compliant with and certified to quality and environmental management standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO is the world's largest developer of standards. The ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 families are among ISO's most widely known standards ever. ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 standards are implemented by some 887 770 organizations in 161 countries. ISO 9000 has become an international reference for quality management requirements in business-to-business dealings, and ISO 14000 is well on the way to achieving as much, if not more, in enabling organizations to meet their environmental challenges. The ISO 9000 family is primarily concerned with "quality management", the means by which organizations achieve:

  • customer quality requirements applicable regulatory requirements
  • enhanced customer satisfaction
  • continual improvement of its performance in pursuit of these objectives

The ISO 14000 family is primarily concerned with "environmental management", referring to an organizations strategies for:

  • minimizing harmful effects on the environment caused by its activities, and
  • achieving continual improvement of its environmental performance.

The vast majority of ISO standards are highly specific to a particular product, material, or process. However, the standards that have earned the ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 families a worldwide reputation are known as "generic management system standards".
