The Haliplex HPX-1600-EV platform features combined 10/100 Base-T Ethernet and T1 transmission over a DS-3 trunk. This addition to the HPX-1600 family is a data multiplexer that combines T1 digital access cross connection, and Ethernet Virtual Concatenation (VCAT) transmission functionality to provide powerful grooming and cross connect capabilities across DS-3 trunks for Ethernet/Fast Ethernet and T1 tributary services.
An integrated nxT1 Digital Cross Connect Switch ensures maximum bandwidth utilisation by enabling up to 8x 10/100 Base-T Ethernet segments and up to 28x T1 tributary grooming via an easy to use management graphical user’s interface.
A flexible, modular solution for multi-site connectivity, this superior product delivers the economic advantages of combined Ethernet and T1 transmissions over a DS-3 trunk in a highly reliable and compact 1RU chassis. Ethernet segments can be customised from 0 up to 8 simultaneously and T1 transmissions can be concurrently provisioned from 0 up to the full 28 available in a DS-3 trunk. With the HPX-1600-EV, network operators can choose to utilize either part of or the full bandwidth for their DS-3 trunk lines.
The HPX-1600-EV is the newest member of the Haliplex HPX-1600 edge access Multi-Service Provisioning Platforms (MSPP). HPX-1600 family products combine add-drop multiplexing (ADM), cross connect switching (DACS), channel bank, CSU/DSU, and Ethernet tributaries with STM-1 (OC-3) trunk speeds into a 16-slot, 1RU modular platform - the first of their kind on the market. Haliplex MSPP products have been shipping since March, 2001 and can be deployed as part of existing or entirely new SONET/SDH fibre or copper-based transmission systems.
Operators of private fibre, fixed wireless, and carrier networks gain a distinct advantage by deploying Haliplex products. The HPX-1600 platforms feature an extremely compact design with ultra-high feature density and the ability to support traditional infrastructures while allowing for the migration to next-generation functionality. Haliplex also offers additional required features in these environments including ease of use and deployment, centralized node management, and critical safety features such as high availability, trunk protection, and non-stop operation.
