MELBOURNE, VIC – November, 2004 – Haliplex Pty Ltd, (http://www.haliplex.com) a leading manufacturer of innovative network edge Multi-Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP) products has announced the HPX-IM-1632 – a new feature which significantly enhances the functionality of its HPX-1600 product family.

The Haliplex HPX-IM-1632 Interface Module features the ability to multiplex and de-multiplex T3 or E3 trunks to 28x T1 or 16x E1 tributaries on the HPX-1600 platform. For the technically minded, the HPX-IM-1632 supports the M13, T3 (with C-bit parity), E13,
and G.747 standards. Up to 14 HPX-IM-1642 Interface Modules can be supported within the HPX-1600-SS platform which allows for up to 84 T1 or 63 E1 tributaries per chassis.

For the not-so-technically-minded, this new Interface Module allows for tremendous cost and configuration savings by allowing the aggregation of multiple lower-bandwidth speed interfaces into a combined higher-bandwidth trunk. Consequently, instead of purchasing multiple transmission lines at a great cost, a single lower cost and faster transmission line can be deployed and split apart into the interfaces required for local use.

The HPX-1600 products offer flexible and modular solutions for multi-site connectivity. HPX-1600 family platforms combine add-drop multiplexing (ADM), cross connect switching (DACS), channel bank, CSU/DSU, and Ethernet tributaries with STM-1 (or OC-3) trunk speeds (155 Mbp/s) into a 16-slot, 1RU modular platform - the first of their kind on the market. Haliplex MSPP products can be deployed as part of existing or entirely new SONET/SDH fibre or copper-based transmission systems.

Operators of private fibre, fixed wireless, and carrier networks gain a distinct advantage by deploying Haliplex products. The HPX-1600 platforms feature an extremely compact design with ultra-high feature density and the ability to support traditional infrastructures while allowing for the migration to next-generation functionality. Haliplex also offers additional required features in these environments including ease of use and deployment, centralized node management, and critical safety features such as high availability, trunk protection, and non-stop operation.

Haliplex products allow converged networks operators to lower both capital and operational expenses. The highly consolidated products from Haliplex include a wide variety of digital data and voice transmission service capabilities in a single unit. This gives network operators the benefits of managing and supporting fewer network devices and dramatically simplifying their administration overheads.
